OUR PROCESSES & PRINTING METHODS

There are several existing ways to custom decorate your item. Which way is the best? That depends on several factors, including quantity of your order, number of colors, style of your item, and your budget. Below the various ways Red Barn can customize your order.

Screen Printing

Screen printing is a cost effective way to decorate larger quantities of garments, as well as smaller runs. The screen printed images are sturdy and clear, lasting the life of the garment. Many colors of inks are available, including Fluorescent, Metallic, and Phosphorescent. While most any material can be printed upon, heavily textured material and silks are not recommended. Typically, t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies are screen printed. Pricing is based on the amount of items ordered, the number of prints on the item, and the amount of color in the print.

Embroidery

Embroidery is a decorating technique that has been around for over 1000 years. Very classy looks can be achieved with this method, and it is surprisingly versatile. Our multi-head embroidery machines are capable of sewing dozens of garments per hour and are able to handle larger quantity orders. As this is a slightly more expensive technique than printing, we recommend this on orders where a quality look is important. Popular items that we embroider are caps, jackets, polo shirts, full button shirts, and bags. Pricing is based on the amount of stitches in your design.

Cad-Cut

Heat sealing vinyl-cut letters and graphics is a cost-effective way to customize and decorate your item. This technique is used when smaller quantities are needed, where a set-up fee would be detrimental to your budget. Heat sealed decorating is very durable and a wide range of looks can be achieved. This is the preferred process when applying team names and numbers, individual personalization, and materials and items that could not withstand the intense heat required to cure screen printed inks. Pricing is based on the complexity and colors present in your design.

Digital Printing

New breakthroughs in digital printing technology is quickly making this process the affordable choice when full-color reproductions are required. We can print your photo or full-color graphic on a huge variety of items, from shirts to mouse pads, banners to mugs. Please check our Gallery to discover the possibilities for your order! Pricing varies widely with the item you request, so please contact us for a quote.

Sublimation Printing

A dye-sublimation printer is a printer which employs a printing process that uses heat to transfer dye onto materials such as paper, plastic, card,  or fabric. This is an affordable process that we use for small quantity orders, to save our customer on set-up fees while allowing a wide range of color in the design(s).

Digital Transfer Printing

We now offer a quick, new process that is ideal for small quantity orders that require a multi-color print design. This process, we call digital transfer, allows us to print the design onto a special coated paper that then allows us to transfer the design to your garment. This process does not require a set-up fee since there are no screens involved that need prepped for production. This option is ideal for small quantity orders that require multiple color designs with a limited budget. The downside, is that this process isn't as archival as screen printing, and requires special washing instructions to ensure the longevity of the print (that are included with every order). We also use this process for large orders that include youth small tees and onesies, to avoid the second set-up fee that would previously be required to re-size the art .
